Flowers: June - August.

A perennial plant of up to 50 cm high with long slender stolons (creeping stems, below or above the ground and produced at the base of erect stems or from basal leaf rosettes). The leaves are ovally-heart-shaped and grow in opposite pairs. The small white flowers are white or pinkish and have two deeply lobed petals. They are bon on long spikes. The small fruits are club-shaped, have two cells and whitish bristles.

Enchanter's Nightshade is widespread in Britain, except for in North Scotland. It is common in damp woods, coppices, plantations and other shady places, including shady gardens.
It prefers calcareous or alkaline soils and grows generally at low altitudes
