Synonym: Giant Bell-flower.

Flowers: July - August.

A tall and stout perennial up to 4 feet high with an un-branched, bristly angled stem. The toothed leaves are stalked lower down but un-stalked higher up. The large flowers (4 - 5.5 cm) are a paler blue than most other Bellflower species and are occasionally white. 

Widespread locally, but absent in the extreme North.
Found in moist woods, hedges, on  river and stream banks, and  mountain meadows
