How come we
can spend $ 800+ billion a year on militairy budgets worldwide and
$ 40 + more for "America's new war, when we cannot afford to
spend the $ 80 billion would provide the essentials of life ~ water, sanitation,
basic health, nutrition, and literacy for all?
Why do we
think that suspicion, mean-heartedness, cruelty and the threat of
weapons of massive destruction and death in modern warfare creates
better results for us than generosity and neighbourlyness between
nations?
Why do we
consider arms dealers to be respectable business men?
Why were we
able to put half a milion men during the gulf war in the desert
with all the equipment to survive and make war, but we cannot
provide the means and people power to stop further dertification
anywhere?
Why do we
still have national armies, rather than just one United Nations
armed force to act as international police?
We have national police to sort out big fights between people.
Sometimes things go wrong and people do get murdered, but not
nearly as many as would be the case if we all had guns,
machineguns and bombs to settle our differences.
Why do we
think it's allright to make laws to punish people, who steal, who
blackmail suppliers to sell good at low prices, avoid taxes and
defraud and cheat people, but we endorse the big multinationals,
who do all of this of these things in varying degrees?
Why do
governments and businesses believe that competition and agression
are Godgiven laws, but cooperation, teamspirit and love are not?
Yet we only have to look at all the interdependant ecosystems all
around us to see that cooperation is a more efficient evolutionary
force than competition?
